Tablet ini dibekali spesifikasi tinggi dan memiliki performa handal. Dengan spesifikasi yang dibawanya membuat tablet ini mumpuni untuk menjalankan game-game kelas berat. Tablet HTC Nexus 9 tersedia dalam dua varian memori internal yakni varian 16 GB dan 32 GB. Tablet HTC Nexus 9 memiliki layar yang cukup besar yakni berukuran 8,9 inch dengan resolusi Quad HD berukuran 1536 x 2048 pixels. Layar tablet ini mengusung teknologi layar berjenis IPS LCD dengan kerapatan mencapai 281 pixel per inchnya. HTC juga membekali layar ini dengan lapisan pelindung layar Corning Gorilla Glass 3 untuk melindungi layar dari benturan dan goresan yang tidak perlu.

Dapur pacu tablet HTC Nexus 9 sangat bertenaga. Hal ini berkat Chipset Nvidia Tegra K1 yang ditenagai dengan processor Dual-core 2.3 GHz Denver. Performa HTC Nexus 9 semakin menjadi-jadi dengan disematkan pengolah grafis GPU Kepler DX1 dan RAM sebesar 2 GB.
